Do you want to create a box or cistern unit for your wall hung toilet?
There are two ways to do this:
-
Building Blocks, these are quick and easy to add. Anyone can use the default material on the building blocks, and users with a paid plan can customize materials using Replace Materials.
OR - The Divider Tool, this method requires a few more steps, and allows anyone to customize the materials on the wall.
Create a Box using a Building Block
- Click or tap the red Mode button and then click Furniture mode.
- Click Search and type Building Block. The building block selection appears.
- Click the first building block (the one with tiles) to select it and click to place it onto your drawing (you can place it anywhere for now – you’ll move it into place later).
- With the building block selected, its Properties appear on the right.
- Change the dimensions of the building block to suit the size you want for your box.
- Use Replace Materials on the right to change the materials on the building block. Choose the same tiles as you have for your wall.
- Move the building block to the correct location in your bathroom.
Create a Box using Divider Lines
1) Draw the Unit
Note: Before you draw the cistern unit, first draw the bathroom walls and add materials to the walls.
- Click or tap the red Mode button and open Walls mode.
- Click Draw Divider Line .
- Draw the box or cistern unit.
- Click Select and click inside the box or cistern to select it (you may need to zoom in to the floor plan).
- Click Advanced Properties and set the Floor Height to be the height of the box or cistern unit.
- Now click the Level button and open Level Properties.
- On the right, turn Floor Strips OFF (otherwise, you will have a baseboard on top of your cistern).
Tip: You can also turn off the floor strips by clicking into the box or cistern and then change the property setting Room Type to Bathroom. Rooms with type 'Bathroom' don't have floor strips.
2) Add Materials
- Click or tap the red Mode button and open Materials mode.
- Click in the center of the box (cistern) to select it (you may need to zoom in to the floor plan).
- The Floor Material setting is actually now the top of your box or cistern. Use it to choose a color for the top of the cistern.
- In Wall Material, choose the same material as you chose for the walls of the room.
- Take a snapshot to see how it looks.
Be careful with exterior walls
Note: If you have attached the box to an exterior wall, you need to adjust one more thing. When you change the floor height for the box, the walls connected to the area will also be updated. When you look at the exterior wall from the outside, it might therefore look like you have a hole in the wall. Here are the steps to solve it:
- Add a second divider line that separates the area with the raised floor height from the exterior wall. The box consists of two different zones now.
- Click Select and click inside the zone closest to the exterior wall (you may need to zoom in to the floor plan).
- Click Advanced Properties and make sure the Floor Height is set to 0.
- Click and hold the CTRL key (to deactivate the snapping feature) while you drag the second divider line as close as possible to the exterior wall.
- Click Select and click inside the box or cistern to select it (you may need to zoom in to the floor plan).
- Click Advanced Properties and set the Floor Height to be the height of the box or cistern unit (as you did in the first steps).
