Example 1 – Room Colors by Room Type
This example uses color so that it's easy to see the location and number of each type of room. Here it's easy to see that there are 4 bathrooms.
Overview – how to create a floor plan with these colors for rooms
- Draw a floor plan in the RoomSketcher App.
- In Walls mode, set these Room Types: Bedroom, Bathroom, Garage, Living Room.
- In the RoomSketcher Web Account, open the 2D Floor Plan – Rooms tab. For each of the Room Types above, we set Type to Color, then clicked the pencil and typed the Hex codes shown below.
- When you have set all the colors, be sure to click Apply before leaving this tab.
- On the 2D Floor Plans tab, we set Show Furniture to No Furniture.
- Then we confirmed with Apply.
- Now, in the RoomSketcher App, Preview your 2D Floor Plan to make sure all the settings are correct. Then Generate Your 2D Floor Plan.
Example 2 – Highlight Different Rooms and Show All Furniture
This example also uses color to show the location and types of rooms. We wanted to highlight the Gym, and the options to use 2 of the bedrooms for a Playroom and Home Office, so we set the Playroom to the same Room Type of "Office" and gave Room Type "Gym" the exact same color. We also used Navy for the wall color.

Example 3 – Room Materials
In this example, we are showing the flooring materials. This technique is very similar to the examples above, except instead of "Color", you set a "Material". We also added Outside Measurements in the RoomSketcher App.

Example 4 – Consistent Floor Color Plus Different Wall and Text Colors
For this example, there was no need to set various Room Types like above as the floor is one consistent yellow color across all the rooms. We used a teal text color, and navy walls. See the settings below. We also added Helper Symbols, such as a compass, entrance arrow, and wheelchair circles, and added a text label with the Total Area of the property.
