How Can I Paint and Decorate Walls?

How Do You Paint or Decorate All Walls in a Room?

Much of the time, the same material is placed on all walls in a room. In the RoomSketcher App, you can do this conveniently with 'One click' or by drag-and-drop. 

Add Materials to all Walls with One Click or Drag & Drop

  1. Open Materials mode.
  2. Scroll through the materials, or in the Search box, type Wallpaper, Paint, Brick, Tile, Panel, Glass, Metal, Concrete, and more.
  3. Select a material. Then click the room where you want to apply the material (you will see a plus sign next to your mouse cursor).

    Or: Drag and drop the material into the room.

  4. You will then see the following pop up window. Select Walls to apply the material.

  5. To see your results, double-click the camera to take a snapshot.

Add Materials to all Walls with Room Properties

  1. Open Materials mode.
  2. Click or tap to select the room you will work with.
  3. Click Wall Material on the right side.

  4. Scroll through the materials, or in the Search box, type Wallpaper, Paint, Brick, Tile, Panel, Glass, Metal, Concrete, and more.
  5. Click to select one and then click Apply.



     
  6. To see your results, double-click the camera to take a snapshot.
 

How Do You Paint or Decorate Just One Wall?

Follow these steps to style a single feature wall:

  1. Click the red Mode button and open Walls mode.
  2. Click or tap to select the wall you will work with. Note that the wall is labeled with a side A and a side B. In the example below, the interior wall is side A. Note which side you wish to paint.



     
  3. Click Material Side A (or Material Side B) on the right side.



     
  4. Scroll the materials or in the Search box, type Wallpaper (or Paint, Brick, Tile, or Panel).
  5. Click to select one and then click Apply.



     
  6. To see your results, double-click the camera to take a snapshot.
 

How Do You Add Two Colors or Materials on One Wall?

Follow these steps to add two different colors or materials side by side on the same wall:

  1. Open Walls mode.
  2. Click or tap to select the wall you will work with.
  3. To split the wall into two parts, add a short divider line like this:

  4. Select either the left or right side, and apply a wall material as explained above.

How Do You Create a Two-Tone or Wainscoting look?

A two-tone or wainscoting effect means dividing your wall horizontally, so you can use one color or material on the lower half and another above it. It’s a great way to add depth, contrast, or a classic design detail to your room.

How Can I Use a Custom Color?

If you have a specific color in mind and know its Hex or RGB code, follow these steps to use it in your project.

  1. Open Materials mode.
  2. Click or tap to select the room.
  3. Click Wall Material on the right side.
  4. Click the Paint Palette (above the Search box).



     
  5. Type a Hex code, an RGB code, or click on the color wheel to select a color.



    Tip: You can adjust the shade (light or dark) of the color using the slider bar underneath the color wheel.
  6. Click Apply.
 

How Do I Reset or Remove a Wall Finish?

If you want to start over and remove a material or color on a wall:

  1. Open Materials mode.
  2. Click or tap to select the room you will work with.
  3. Click Wall Material on the right side.
  4. Click Clear.



     
  5. To see your results, double-click the camera to take a snapshot.
 

How Do I Paint My Exterior Walls?

One way to change the color or material on exterior walls in the RoomSketcher App is to use Level Properties (which sets the same external wall material or color for the level). Another option is to change the walls individually, as described above in How Do You Paint or Decorate Just One Wall?.

To change all exterior walls:

  1. Click the Levels button in the top toolbar and click Level Properties.



     
  2. Click or tap External Wall Material on the right side.



     
  3. Search for a material such as paint, panel, wood, or brick. (Or, click the Paint Palette to specify a custom paint color).
  4. Click to select a material and then click Apply.



     
  5. To see your results, move the camera so that it faces the outside of the property, and then double-click the camera to take a snapshot.
