How Can I Use Templates for My 3D Floor Plans?

When setting up your 3D Floor Plan style, Templates let you quickly define how your floor plan is presented. Pick a ready-made template to instantly set the camera angle, perspective, wall cut height as well as wall top color — then customize further if needed.

What Are 3D Floor Plan Templates?

Templates are ready-made 3D Floor Plan styles created by RoomSketcher. With seven templates to choose from , such as Standard View with Neutral Wall Tops or Angled View with Black Wall Tops, you can quickly find a presentation that suits your project.

Templates are found under Styles > Floor Plans > 3D Floor Plans > Templates in RoomSketcher's Web Portal.

 

What Does a 3D Floor Plan Template Change?

Applying a 3D template updates the following settings only:

  • Wall Cut Height – how high up the walls are cut to show the interior
  • Camera settings – the angle and perspective of the 3D view
  • Wall top color – the color shown on top of the cut walls

All other 3D Floor Plan settings remain unchanged.

 

How Do I Apply a 3D Floor Plan Template?

To apply the settings of one of the templates to your account, follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to your web portal at app.roomsketcher.com.
  2. In the left menu, click Styles.
  3. Under Floor Plans, go to 3D Floor Plans.
  4. Click Templates.
  5. A pop-up informs you about the Templates features, click View Templates to get to the templates.
    Tip: You can toggle Don't show this again if you prefer to go straight to the template gallery in the future (it will also apply to 2D and Letterhead Templates).
  6. Browse the available templates and click on one to apply it.

The 3D angle, perspective, wall cut height and wall top color will update instantly.

 

Can I Customize a 3D Floor Plan Template After Applying It?

Yes! After selecting a template, you can adjust any individual setting to fine-tune the result to your liking.
