How Can I Add, Copy, and Delete Floors or Levels?

  • Updated

The RoomSketcher App allows you to easily add or remove levels and, if needed, rename or copy them. Although the App calls these levels, they are often referred to as floors (for example, ground floor, upper level, etc.) — both terms mean the same thing. Copying levels is especially useful if you have two floors that are very similar or if you want to create different versions of a floor plan.

Here’s what you’ll find in this article:

How Can I Add or Copy (Duplicate) a Level?

  1. Open the RoomSketcher App. In the top toolbar, click the Level button.
  2. You will see a list of the levels in the project with the current level listed in blue. Click New Level.

  3. The New Level page appears.

You have a few options for adding a new level:
    • Start from Scratch. This gives you a new blank level.
    • Copy an existing level. To copy a level, click or clear Include furniture when copying, and then click an existing floor/level as a basis for a new level. If you choose the existing level, all walls, materials, and (optionally) furniture are copied to the new level.
Tip: This is a great way to create two similar floor plans and then show two different flooring or wall covering options.
    • Use an existing floor plan shape. Pick from a selection of ready-made floor plan shapes to start your design.

You can add up to nine levels in a single project.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Can I copy a floor plan to create a similar layout on another level?
Yes! When adding a new level in the RoomSketcher App, you can choose to copy an existing one. You can even decide whether to include the furniture or not.

What happens when I delete a level? Can I undo it?
Deleting a level permanently removes it from your RoomSketcher project, so be sure before you click. There's no undo, but you can always recreate it and copy from a saved version if needed.

Can I reorder the levels in my project?
The levels are stacked in the order you create them, and while you can't reorder them, you can rename them to keep things organized (like “Ground Floor,” “First Floor,” etc.).
