LiDAR is required to create floor plans with the FloorCapture app.
Only certain iPhone Pro and iPad Pro models include a LiDAR scanner. Android phones and tablets do not currently support LiDAR.
If you're not sure whether your device has LiDAR, use one of the methods below.
Method 1: Check Your Device Model (Recommended)
This is the easiest and most reliable way to check.
On iPhone or iPad:
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap General.
- Tap About.
- Look for the Model Name.
If your device is one of the models below, it has LiDAR support.
Supported iPhones (status May 2026)
- iPhone 12 Pro
- iPhone 12 Pro Max
- iPhone 13 Pro
- iPhone 13 Pro Max
- iPhone 14 Pro
- iPhone 14 Pro Max
- iPhone 15 Pro
- iPhone 15 Pro Max
- iPhone 16 Pro
- iPhone 16 Pro Max
- iPhone 17 Pro
- iPhone 17 Pro Max
Supported iPads
- iPad Pro 11-inch (2nd generation or newer)
- iPad Pro 12.9-inch (4th generation or newer)
Tip: Devices with "Pro" in the name usually support LiDAR.
Method 2: Check the Back Cameras
You can also look at the back of your device. Devices with LiDAR have a small extra sensor near the camera lenses. It looks like a small dark circle.
Be careful not to confuse the LiDAR scanner with the camera flash.
iPhone with LiDAR
- Usually has three camera lenses
- Includes a small dark LiDAR sensor near the cameras
iPad Pro with LiDAR
- Has multiple rear cameras
- Includes a small dark LiDAR sensor beside the cameras
Important Notes
- Standard iPhones (non-Pro models) do not have LiDAR.
- Android phones and tablets do not have LiDAR.
- Some other capture or scanning apps may work on Android without LiDAR, but RoomSketcher's FloorCapture requires a supported LiDAR device.
