How Do I Add Doors to My Project?

In the RoomSketcher App, it’s easy to visualize and choose the perfect door for your project. This article covers the following topics:

How Do I Find a Door?

You can find doors under Window etc. mode in the RoomSketcher App. Here’s how:

1. Click or tap the red Mode button and open Windows etc. mode.
2. Open the Doors category.
   
   

What Kind of Doors Can I Find?

• You’ll see a variety of door types, listed alphabetically. These include bi-fold, exterior, french, glass, interior, pocket, sliding, and even a door and wall opening (a walk-through space with no actual door).
• Pro and Team subscribers have access to trim less door models without thresholds, shown slightly open in the library so you can easily distinguish them from standard doors.

Tips:

• Hover over any door to view its default size.
• For the best rendering results, choose a door that’s close to the size you need.
   

How Do I Add a Door?

Once you’ve found the door you want, it just takes a few clicks to place it:

1. Click to select a door.
2. Click on a wall to place the door. 

Note: The door's length must not exceed the wall's length. If the door is wider than the wall's length, it can't be added to the wall. 

How Can I Change the Size, Opening Angle, and Swing or the Door?

You can adjust how a door fits and functions in your floor plan using the door’s properties. Whether you want to fine-tune the size, swing direction, or even close a door completely, RoomSketcher gives you direct control to make these edits quickly.

1. With a door selected, its Properties appear on the right.
   
   
    
2. To change the direction of the swing, click Flip Door or use the hotkey Q.
   
   
    

3. To change the size, drag the blue arrows, or in the field Width, enter the correct width of the door. In Height, adjust the height of the door.

   All sizes include trim.

4. For Opening Angle, type a number in degrees to adjust the swing angle of the door. 
   
   
   
   
   Tip: If you want a closed door, type 0 for the angle.

How Can I Change the Color or Materials of the Door?

If you have a Premium Project, a Pro, or a Team subscription and see this symbol on a door, you can change the color and materials.

1. Select a door you placed in your project so that its Properties appear on the right.

2. Under Replace Materials, you’ll see the door's parts listed. You can typically change the handle, door, sill, or trim materials. 

   Some doors (such as exterior doors) can have a different color on each side. Side A is the side with hinges.

   
   
    

3. Click the name of a door part.
4. The Select Material page appears. You can:
   -  Use the scroll bar to browse suggested materials, or 
   -  In Search, type a word, such as “Wood”, “Paint” or “Metal”, to narrow your selection.
   -  To use a custom color, click the Paint Palette.
   
   
   
    - Type a hex or RGB color code, or click the color wheel to select a color.
   
   
    
5. Once you have chosen a material, click Apply to close the Select Material page.

How Do I View the Door in My Project?

To visualize your custom door, click and drag the camera to point it at the door, then double-click to take a snapshot.

How Can I Copy, Move, or Delete a Door?

• Copy: Click a door to select it, and click the Copy button in the top toolbar. Then click a Wall and click the Paste button.
• Move: You can drag a door to move it.
• Delete: Click the Trash Bin to delete it.
