From Blueprint to Floor Plan - AI Conversion & Tracing

Why Didn’t My AI Convert Work?

  • Updated

AI Convert is a fast and easy way to turn a blueprint into a floor plan. Sometimes, the result isn’t what you expected or the conversion may fail.

Here are the most common reasons and how to fix them:

The Blueprint Isn’t Supported

AI Convert works best with clear, computer-generated 2D floor plans.

Supported blueprints include:

  • Architectural floor plan drawings (PDF, JPG, or PNG)
  • Real estate listing floor plans
  • Old scanned blueprints (as long as they are clear and readable)

Not supported blueprints:

  • Photos of real rooms
  • Hand-drawn sketches
  • 3D images or renderings
  • Elevation drawings (side views of a building)
  • Perspective drawings

The Blueprint Is Too Blurry

If the image is low-quality, the AI may not correctly recognize walls and details.

What you can do:

  • Use a higher-resolution image.
  • If you took a photo, retake it in good lighting and make sure the blueprint is sharp and in focus.

The Blueprint Has Too Much Noise

Extra elements like text, stamps, or borders can confuse the AI.

What you can do:

  • Crop the image to show only the floor plan and remove unnecessary areas (logos, notes, legends).
  • Here is how to crop:
    1. After uploading your blueprint, grab a corner of the image and adjust the frame.
    2. Move it to include only the relevant part of the blueprint.
    3. When ready, click Crop in the top right corner.

The Blueprint Is Crooked

If the image is tilted, the AI may misinterpret walls and angles.

What you can do:

  • Use the Straighten tool when uploading your blueprint, here is how:
    1. After uploading your blueprint, click Straighten in the top right corner.
    2. If it looks good, click Done

The Scale Was Set Incorrectly

AI Convert needs one known measurement to scale your floor plan correctly.

How scaling works:

  • You place a scale bar on a known length (for example, a wall or door).
  • Then you enter the real-world measurement.

What you can do:

  • Choose a clear, easy-to-measure element (like a wall or door).
  • Enter the correct length.
  • Double-check if you have the correct units (meters or feet).

Tip: If your blueprint doesn’t include measurements, estimate one (for example, a standard door width).

The Blueprint Doesn't Have Enough Contrast

If the blueprint has low contrast (for example, a grey background with faint lines), the AI may struggle to detect walls and details.

What you can do:

  • Increase the contrast using an image editing tool (make lines darker and background lighter)
  • If you took the photo yourself, retake it with better lighting
  • Make sure walls and lines are clearly visible and stand out from the background

Tip: Clear black lines on a white background work best for AI Convert.
