Want to give your ceiling a stylish finish? With RoomSketcher, you can easily add materials such as paint, wood panels, or tiles to your ceiling to complete the look of your room. Whether you’re designing a cozy bedroom or a modern kitchen, this quick update adds the perfect finishing touch.
The video below starts right at the part where we show how to add material to your ceiling — or, if you prefer, you can follow the step-by-step instructions further down.
Here's how you add material to a ceiling:
- In Walls or Material mode, click in the center of the room where you want to add materials. The Zone Properties will show up on the right hand side.
- Click Ceiling Material to get a list of all the available materials for your ceilings.
- Scroll through the list to find inspiration, or use the Search box to search for a specific color or material type (for example, Brick, Tile, Paint, and more).
- Click to select one and then click Apply.
- To see your results, double-click the camera to Take a Snapshot or view your design with Live 3D.
Can I Use My Own Color?
Yes! Click on the color palette icon in the Select Material window. You can then:
- Type a Hex code or an RGB code, or
- Click on the color wheel to select a color.
Tip: You can adjust the shade (light or dark) of the color using the slider bar underneath the color wheel.
How Can I Remove or Delete the Paint or Material from the Ceiling?
- Open Walls, Windows, or Materials mode.
- Click the room that contains the ceiling you want to work on, to open its Properties Pane on the right.
- Click Ceiling Material to open the Select Material page, and then click Clear.
How Can I See the Material or Color on My Ceiling?
Ceilings in RoomSketcher are only visible from inside a room. To view your ceiling color or material, use one of the following options:
- Snapshots – Take a quick snapshot inside the room to see how the ceiling looks.
- 3D Photos – Create a realistic 3D Photo to visualize the ceiling material or color.
- 360 Views – Explore your room interactively and look up to see the ceiling material.
- Live 3D in Camera Mode – Enter Camera mode to move through your floor plan and view the ceiling from any angle.
This way, you can check how your chosen ceiling finish fits with your overall room.
