Sometimes you want to copy a project, or create an alternative version of a floor plan—for example, to show buyers the potential of adding an extra bedroom, or to compare different layout options. With RoomSketcher, you can do this in two simple ways:
- Add a new version as a level within the same project.
- Make a copy of your project so each version stays separate.
Both methods are quick and easy — here’s how you can do it.
How Do I Create a New Version Within the Same Project?
If you want to test out variations while keeping everything in one place, you can add a new level inside your existing project. This way, you can quickly switch between versions while creating your floor plans.
- Open the RoomSketcher App. In the top toolbar, click the Level
button.
- You will see a list of the project levels, with the current level listed in blue. Click New Level.
- The New Level page opens. To copy an existing level, select Include furniture when copying on the top, and then click the floor/level you want to copy. This will duplicate all walls, materials, and furniture onto your new level.
Now you can make changes on the new level without affecting your original floor plan.
How Do I Make a Copy of the Entire Project?
If you prefer to keep versions completely separate — for example, if you’re creating different options for several clients — making a project copy is the way to go.
Here’s how:
- Open the project you want to copy.
- Click the yellow Menu button and then click Make a Copy. This will create a copy of the project you are currently working on.
- The Save Project As page appears. Give the copy a name and click Save.
A copied project counts as a new project and costs 1 Credit.
Tips for Copying an Ordered Project
An ordered project comes with special features that are tied to the original:
- Free re-generation of 2D and 3D Floor Plans for 30 days
- Replace Materials for a full year
- Live 3D for a full year
When you copy an ordered project, these features are not included in the copy.
However, if you’re a Pro or Team subscriber, you always have:
- Free 2D Floor Plan generation on all projects
- Replace Materials included
- Live 3D included
