How Can I Create an HVAC Floor Plan?

  • Updated

Creating an HVAC floor plan with RoomSketcher is a great way to visualize heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems right on your floor plan. This helps you plan effectively and share clear, professional floor plans with clients or contractors.

You can watch this video or follow the steps below.

What Is an HVAC Floor Plan?

An HVAC floor plan is a detailed drawing showing the placement of all the key HVAC components such as heat pumps, ventilations, radiators, ducts or air conditions. It includes all elements of an usual floor plan, i.e. walls, windows, doors and stairs and might also show general fixed installation.

Please note that all HVAC items are available for Pro customers only.

How Do I Add HVAC Symbols to My Floor Plan?

RoomSketcher has a built-in library of HVAC symbols that you can place directly on your project. Simply follow these four steps:

Step 1: Draw Your Floor Plan

Start by creating the base layout of your space so you have the structure ready for your HVAC floor plan.

    • Click the plus_new_project_app.jpg Plus icon in the top menu.
    • Choose Blank Project
  2. Draw up walls, insert windows, doors and stairs
  3. (Optional) Add fixed installations, such as utility sinks, bathroom or kitchen furniture.

Step 2: Add HVAC items

Next, place HVAC items such as vents, ducts, and units directly onto your floor plan.

  1. Open Furniture mode, then click category HVAC.
  2. Choose from over 100 products and drag & drop your preferred HVAC items to your floor plan.

All HVAC items have standard HVAC symbols that are shown on 2D Floor Plans. These symbols are widely recognized in the industry and make it easy for your clients and contractors to read and understand the layout of your HVAC system.

When your plan is complete, generate the 2D Floor Plan, and the symbols are added automatically.
