You can display room names in different locations on your 2D Floor Plans and 3D Floor Plans. To achieve this, there’s a simple setting in the RoomSketcher App that lets you place the same room name in one spot on your 2D Floor Plan and in another spot on your 3D Floor Plan.
In the example below, the room name “Balcony” is in a good location for the 2D Floor Plan, but too close to the kitchen wall for the 3D Floor Plan.

Step 1: Add Room Names
Make sure you’ve already added room names to your floor plan. If you need help with this step, check out our guide: Add and Move Room Names.
Step 2: Place the Room Name for the 3D Floor Plan
- Open Walls mode (click the red Mode button and click Walls).
- Click and drag the room name to a better location for 3D (typically away from walls that are directly below the room name).
- Click Menu, then Preview 3D Floor Plan.
- The Preview appears, and you can check that you like the new location.
- Close the Preview window.
- If needed, adjust the location of the name and preview it again.
- When you have found the best location, click the Select tool and select the zone/room containing the name. Its properties will appear on the right.
- Click Advanced Properties and then Lock 3D Name.
Step 3: Place the Room Name for the 2D Floor Plan
- Move the room name to the best location for the 2D Floor Plan.
- Click Menu > Preview 2D Floor Plan to check the location.
- Close the Preview window.
Now, when you generate your 2D and 3D Floor Plans, the room name will appear in different locations.
