I Printed My Floor Plan but It's Not to Scale

  • Updated

If you’ve printed your floor plan and noticed that the measurements don’t match the intended scale, don’t worry, it’s easy to fix.

RoomSketcher lets you download and print your floor plans in various formats and scales, such as ½"=1'-0" or 1:50, and more. Please learn more about your options here: Download and Print Options

To make sure your floor plan prints at the correct scale, it's important to follow a few key steps.

  • Do not print directly from your browser - this can distort the scale.
  • Instead, open and print your floor plan in Adobe Acrobat Reader (or a similar program). This ensures your printer settings are accurate.

How to print with the correct settings

  1. Download your floor plan as a PDF Letterhead with the preferred scale (for example, 1/2" = 1'-0"), as described here
  2. Open the PDF in Adobe Acrobat Reader.
  3. Choose Actual Size (not "Fit to Page" or "Shrink oversized pages").
  4. Click Properties and check that the correct paper is selected.
  5. Then print your floor - and it should be perfectly to scale.
